On April 4 Finance Latvia Association in cooperation with Navigant invites to register for the full-day, practical and hands-on workshop, comprised of two sessions. It will be led by international experts from Navigant and dedicated to the topic of Suspicious Transactions Investigations and Reporting.

Recent events in the Baltics reveal issues of high relevance to practitioners of AML/CFT compliance. It extends beyond financial institutions – to clients and partners thereof. Compliance requires dedication and an unwavering commitment towards implementing the highest standards of compliance and fighting financial crime to achieve long-term sustainable growth of the economy.

Filing of a timely and accurate Suspicious Transaction Reports is an important element of a financial institution’s Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) Program. Comprehensive, substantive and meaningful STRs contains valuable information for law enforcement institutions investigating money laundering, fraud, and corruption. Extraneous or “defensive” STRs bog down STR databases, causing inefficiency for regulators and law enforcement in analyzing important STR information. Experienced experts will provide practical advice for the when – and when not – to file an STR, how to document the decision-making process, what information to include in an STR and how to make STRs useful to law enforcement.

Experts from Navigant will deliver legal basis and practical experience in the following areas:

  • Legal Basis for Investigating Red Flags of Potentially Suspicious Transactions and Recent Regulatory Actions
  • Identification of Unusual Activity and Identifying Red Flags
  • Investigating Potentially Suspicious/Illegal Transactions and Documenting the STR Decision Making Process
  • Monitoring and STR Filing on Continuing Activity
  • Drafting Quality STRs and Drafting Investigative Plans Using STR information
